Mobiles
It was probably fated. In high school Torbie Macdonald gave me the nom de stickball Brycemobile. Twenty years later I was peddling them at the Maine Festival. I'd discovered that the kids would mob around the toymaker's display table, but it was the parents in the background who had the sheckles. So I'd hang some mechanical devices overhead where I could manipulate them and talk up the trade. Soon the mobiles were my stock in trade. Eventually the flying machines took off, and became highwire acts which travelled back and forth overhead. Hard to photograph. Here are a few that got captured on film. |
