One Holloween I put on a clown mask and was possessed. I could only speak in a squeaky voice and play the fool. It was spooky. I date my respect for the power of masque from that night.

Masks can enable us to extract an aspect of personality, and examine it in isolation.

Or a mask can confront us with our duality.
